Welcome to Music!
Students at Southwood Valley receive a week of music classes as part of a 3-week rotation through CAMP: Computer, Art and Music. The other 30 minutes of the hour in CAMP is spent daily in PE. Mrs. Rushing, music teacher, graduated from Texas Wesleyan University in Ft. Worth with an English and Elementary Ed degree. She became an elementary music specialist through East Texas State University in Commerce with a piano and organ emphasis. She has a Level II Orff Certification, Level 1 World Drumming experience and yearly workshops in Kodaly, all specialized teaching methods for the elementary classroom.

Fourth Grade ProgramUkuleles, recorders, barred instruments and beautiful singing, these are just a few of the skills 4th graders will be learning and improving. Their grade level program is a traditional American themed one and will be presented in Novemeber.

Third Grade ProgramStudents will continue to learn all the instruments in the music classroom and in the spring will learn to play the recorder.
Their beautiful singing will send us off for a Christmas break when they perform in December. |
1st, 2nd and Kinders
Activities in these classes lay the framework of music reading and literacy. Many opportunities to create through literature and movement are provided.
